Sharpen your critical thinking skills at A+ Summer held at Stanford University. A+ Summer Middle School challenges 6th-8th graders to design and execute their own solutions to contemporary problems, as they explore their potential as inventors, detectives and strategists. A+ Summer High School provides 9th-10th graders with courses in advanced argumentative writing, critical reading and critical thinking through logic puzzles and games. A+ Summer Pre-College readies 11th-12th graders for college-level assignments by providing them with the tools to craft advanced research projects of their own choosing.
Argue before a jury of peers at the American Legal Experience. ALE uses mock trial activities as a fun and challenging way for high school students to learn public speaking and critical thinking skills.
Immerse yourself in hands-on science study at the Sally Ride Science Camp. In partnership with astronaut Sally Ride, the first American woman in space, Sally Ride Science Camps allow girls in grades 4-9 to "major" in marine science, astronomy, robotics or engineering and most importantly, to get excited about science and the possibility of their own future in the field.
Master the SAT, and learn to write effective personal statements and navigate the college application process at College Admission Prep Camp. CAPC helps students succeed in the college admissions process with market-leading SAT prep, individualized personal statement writing instruction and college guidance counseling.
Learn the professional techniques used for stage and screen at the California Actors Workshop. The workshop is a conservatory-style theater program held at Stanford University for entering 9th-12 grade students of all talent levels. Students work on the performance of a complex character, develop a monologue ready for auditions and attend several theater productions in the Bay Area.
Immerse yourself in the web design or computer programming at Computer Camp. Computer Camp gives students in grades 4-12 hands-on instruction to develop practical and creative computer skills. Students can attend specialized sessions of web design, JAVA programming and more.
Learn professional techniques for making movies at Video Production Camp. Video Production Camp offers 7-12th graders the unique opportunity to develop multimedia production skills including scripting for video, directing, shooting, editing and special effects while working with a staff of experienced professionals. Options are available for beginners and advanced students.
Visit colleges and make new friends on the East Coast College Tour. This chaperoned trip allows 10th-12th graders to visit ten prestigious colleges over the course of 7 days. The tour begins in Boston and includes NY and DC. Chaperoned flight options from the West Coast are available. ECCT is a great mix of education, culture and fun.
Live the literary life at UC Berkeley or Stanford University with the Emerging Writers Institute. EWI develops and supports student's imaginative writing of poetry, plays, fiction, and nonfiction. Students in grades 10-12 will be challenged technically and artistically through guided daily writing workshops, one-on-one instructor evaluations, presentations of their work, and field trips throughout the literary Bay Area.
Get the skills that will give you an edge in high school at Prep Camp Excel. Excel prepares 9th-10th to succeed to their full potential in high school and on the PSAT. Participants will develop academic essay writing skills, get test taking practice and training (including PSAT practice tests) and work on study and presentation skills to improve classroom performance.
Build confidence and skill speaking before an audience at the Public Speaking Institute. Our dynamic curriculum encourages incremental progress through ongoing practice and exercises. Regular and advanced public speaking options are available.
Take a college level course at UC Berkeley through our Summer Focus program. Focus allows 11th-12th graders to test the waters of college life and take a real UC Berkeley course while living in a structured and supervised dorm environment. Focus participants will also receive tutoring support from our residential staff and will choose supplemental elective courses including but not limited to, College Level Writing, Surfing and Kaplan® SAT prep.
